Let Your Fingers Do the Walking
Cameron Silver, the owner of the vintage mecca Decades and a collector of Hermès, knows quality when he sees it. So we listened when he recommended Cheryl Scruggs as L.A.'s go-to gal for at-home manicures and pedicures. Scruggs has honed her craft for 32 years at such posh addresses as the Peninsula and the Beverly Hills Hotel, but these days she specializes in private clients. "Cuticles reveal a lot about you, and Cheryl can tell how busy the store has been just by looking at my hands," Silver says. "Dry cuticles means I've sold lots of dresses." Meanwhile, in New York, Elana Posner, the president of Peter Som, Inc., sends the on-the-go Bulgarian manicurist Flo Doukova to the rescue of staffers who've been spending more time at their desks than in their beds at night.
